Summer dresses are of course one of the most important outfits in our wardrobe. We think about pattern, color and style. A summer dress has to cover a lot more. Find out in this article which mistakes you must not make under any circumstances.

1. Certified materials for your summer outfit

Warmer temperatures ensure that your pores open more in summer. For this reason, it is particularly important in summer what kind of materials you wear on your skin. For example, many Asian countries have less stringent guidelines when it comes to the use of chemicals. This very often means that your clothes contain a lot of lead and other chemicals. For example, tests by a Dutch university have shown that many fast fashion brands have around 15 times the permitted amount of lead in their clothing. This can lead to skin irritation as well as being carcinogenic. For this reason, we particularly recommend using sustainable materials and European production.

2. Maxi dress or rather a short summer dress

We wear our summer dresses for day trips, to a garden party or to go out. And all this in hot temperatures. Accordingly, it is important that the outfits are somewhat loose and flowy in order to offer more freedom of movement and comfort in warmer weather. For this reason, you should avoid skin-tight dresses in summer and rather resort to other outfits such as maxi dresses. Another option is of course to use short summer dresses. It just depends on what kind of person you are. If you like to show a little more skin, then wear a short dress or a skirt, if like me you tend to wear long dresses in summer, then make sure that you wear a maxi dress.

3. The prettiest colors for your outfit inspo

Whether it's a casual day out, a picnic in the park, or a more formal event, a sundress is a versatile and stylish choice that can be paired with a variety of accessories and shoes to create a range of looks. Also, sundresses are often loose and flowy, allowing for freedom of movement and comfort in warm weather. All of these factors make summer dresses a popular choice for warm-weather fashion.

4. Cotton, linen or polyester in summer?

The right choice of fabric when choosing your summer dress is particularly important. Using polyester and cotton for a sundress is not recommended for a number of reasons. Although both fabrics are extremely cheap, both are not breathable and come mainly from Asia, so that the treatment of the materials is often questionable and also harmful to the environment. Linen is a good alternative because of its breathability. The only problem is that due to the structure of the fabric, it can only be used for single-colored products. In my opinion, the best alternative is viscose. Viscose is made from cellulose from Europe (e.g. in the case of Lenzing) and the fiber is known for having a cooling effect. It is still ideal if the viscose fiber has been braided in a satin weave, so that the fabric still has a silky soft quality.
